Choreography & Direction: Isabel Bernhard & Rembert Schulte
Assistance: Friederike Klodwig, Charlotte Petersen & Sarah Bernhard
Premiere: 8-28-2020
Billy is the youngest son of a mining family. His father Jackie struggles while striking against the impending mine closure with fellow miners. Billy is supposed to learn how to box, but while training in the sports hall he discovers that he actually prefers to dance. This is a scandal in the harsh world of the working class. Billy is close to giving up his dream of dancing when an opportunity at the Royal Ballet School beckons. He is now faced with the decision of his life.
The dance theater production ‘We will dance’ is created as part of the annual eight-class theater program of the Free Waldorf School in Münster. Over a period of six months the students are taught classical ballet, contemporary dance and improvisation. At the end of a three-week intensive rehearsal phase the piece is performed in front of a big audience.
