First I was afraid
A dance theater piece out of the drawer

In the beginning there was fear; and what came afterwards was simply beautiful. But what happens in between? We get stuck in the drawer, we don't even know how we got in, let alone what the way out might look like.

We squirm, fight, surrender, shake it all off and are pushed back in. But eventually we make it. Somehow the drawer isn't real - someone else has designed it and we've somehow ended up in this imaginary thing - and with our imagination we manage to get out again. In “First I was afraid”, Tanz Labor and MNEME collectively embark on a quest to get out of the drawers we're put in and celebrate the fact that we can all be who we want to be.
