a cross-generational dance project by Dantheater Aard (NL) and MNEME kollektiv (DE) taking up this year’s ‚taNDem'-theme of paradise

The research project Paradijs // Paradies serves as a meeting point for two groups based in Nijmegen and Münster. Guided by Danstheater Aard on the Dutch side and by MNEME kollektiv on the German side these groups independently work on a choreographic approach of dealing with the topic of paradise.

Regarding the momentary situation the exchange for now is limited to a digital format. Danstheater Aard works with a reduced number of participants in outdoor rehearsals while MNEME researches within the collective. The work on both sides is accompanied by a professional camera- and photography team and the findings are presented as a short film. 

As soon as the Covid regulations allow it the exchange of both groups will take place in person. Working with up to 10 participants of all ages the Dutch and the German group independently create conceptual and physical material. Following this intensive research they meet for a weekend-long exchange near the Dutch-German border.

Regardless of the language barrier, age and experience of all participants we collectively search for our inter-personal paradise. Using the means of physical contact and movement with and towards each other we develop a theatrical, paradisiacal situation. The result of this shared exploration will be a dance performance and a photo exhibition documenting the research and the creation of Paradijs // Paradies.
